Hard to believe fall sessions are in full swing. Elle pointed out in the car the other day that the leaves have begun to change color. I love this time of year. Although I do enjoy the the sun and the beach, I LOVE autumn, the falling leaves, the crisp air, the football games!
Christmas is just around the corner, in fact as of today there are 57 days until Christmas (for those of you with an i-phone there is a great app for the kids called sleeps to Christmas).. don't panic, 57 days can be a long time right?
As promised I am adding the luxe card samples to the blog, see the last post.
Pick something that best fits you. This is the most important aspect of your photographs! This is not the time to go for a new style that’s not you. If you don’t feel comfortable and confident in what you are wearing, it will show in your photos.
If you are coordinating for a family, pick a color scheme and stay within it. This does not mean that everyone has to match, just coordinate! My favorite images are the ones where everyone maintains their own “style” within the family. If you have a favorite dress, coordinate your family’s colthing around it. Picking a foundation piece to work around can give you some inspiration to build on. I suggest putting outfits together as you would decorate your home or as you would create an outfit for yourself. Coordination is key, not “matchy, matchy”.
Layers are fun. Cardigans/jackets, belts, scarves, boots....these can all create texture and add dimension to an image. These can also work to coordinate outfits and the change the look of clothing that you wear everyday. Don’t want to buy all new clothing for your shoot? Add a scarf or fun belt to your outfit and change the look entirely
Below is a sample of clothing choices for the fall.
(The way that I shoot I do suggest that you wear something that will allow you to sit on the ground, a stump, steps, or just about anywhere.. I have been know to put people in trees! So the great pencil skirt my not be the best choice for family portrait.)
I do have to say that the day in the hay sessions and the outdoor fall session so far have been perfect in the clothing category! I have seen so many coordinating families!
